Pauline Sachse

Born in Hamburg, Pauline Sachse studied at the Academy of Music Hanns Eisler Berlin, and at Yale University (USA) with Tabea Zimmermann, Jesse Levine and Wilfried Strehle. In addition, she pursued studies with the Alban Berg Quartet in Cologne.  As a chamber musician, Sachse has collaborated with artists such as Isabelle Faust, Steven Isserlis, Tabea Zimmermann, Gidon Kremer and Daniel Hope. Festival invitations have taken her to “Festspiele Mecklenburg Vorpommern”, “Heidelberger Frühling” and the Kronberg Academy's “Chamber Music Connects the World”. Sachse is also a founding member of the Eisler Quartet, with whom she performs regularly. Her debut CD was released in fall 2009, followed by several recordings with artists such as Isabelle Faust, Wolfgang Meyer and Stella Doufexis. Sachse has won several competitions such as the Lenzewski and the Joseph Joachim competition. Since 2008, she has been a lecturer at the Academy of Music Hanns Eisler Berlin, where she was previously Tabea Zimmermann’s assistant. She has performed under conductors such as Seiji Ozawa, Simon Rattle, Daniel Barenboim and Claudio Abbado with the Lucerne Festival Orchestra, the Mahler Chamber Orchestra and the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. In 2010, Sachse was appointed principal viola of the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra. Performed at the Festival in 2006.
